![]() “What are you waiting for? A written invitation to participate in life?" Asked one of the Olympic’s television commercials. “You have one,” it declared. “It's called a birth certificate.” I love that one! Scott Crossfield, one of the original Space Cowboys, died in a fiery airplane crash on April 20 at the age of 84. A witness said he saw lightning hit his plane, which then rose thousands of feet into the air and then crashed to earth. How fitting for a test pilot! You can read his many adventures on any news page. He certainly lived a full life dangerously and on the edge, you might say he wrote the invitation to participate in life. Mr. Crossfield was born October 2, 1921, 8:45 a.m. in Berkeley, California. He was a Libra with Moon in Libra and Scorpio rising. That is all the astrology in this article. Mr. Crossfield had past lives of risk and danger and could have been a loner. This lifetime his purpose was to balance his love of risk with planning and have a partner who would be out of the public eye. He was an aircraft engineer who defied death by test flying airplanes to prove his engineering designs. His chart reveals an obvious love of being different within a planned career, and being on the leading edge. He probably alienated others because of his self assurance bordering on arrogance. Those who have had successful past lives with lack of fear reach out during their current lifetime for more experiences, seem to be in a hurry and are misunderstood by quiet and careful people. They can become impatient with people who don’t understand them and move on. Mr.Crossfield was a concentrated, focused man who easily understood complicated, abstract concepts that he could bring into reality. His Mars, Aries helper is in a careful sign, but in a challenging position that reveals his love of danger. Mr.Crossfield’s soul’s purpose seems to have been focused, bringing the risk from past lives together with balance and planning for many adventures. There is an indication of a love of risk to the point of death, but he has so much good luck he was protected until his chosen time to go to the higher realms. The planets at his death suggest it was almost a joyful and certainly a dramatic death. Although accidents seem to be such, the soul is in charge of death, so he died as he lived, high in the sky, flying into a storm to test himself yet again, and with a great sense of drama. What signs seize life to participate fully, oblivious of or enjoying danger? Aries impulsively leads where angels fear to tread just for the thrill of it. Scorpio wants to experience life in depth. If she thinks it is worth it she goes where angels fear to tread for the experience. Neither fear death and seem to court it from the point of view of careful people. Along with the signs of Aries and Scorpio we look at the planet Mars, Aries and Scorpio’s helper, and the planet Pluto who is a behind-the-scenes helper for Scorpio for those born after 1930. What does this mean to you? Do you participate in life or are you afraid? Do you do something yearly to get yourself out of a rut or to experience a sense of wonder? Your birth certificate is your invitation. Your horoscope is your road map. You are who you are supposed to be, whether a risk taker or careful. However, being in a rut and losing wonder is stifling yourself and your soul. Look to your past life point which reveals talents and ruts. It is your choice to enjoy your talents or to stay in a dampening rut. Why you are here - what is your purpose? Focus on those qualities to enjoy fulfillment, knowing your past life characteristics are a stepping stone. Find the risk in your chart with Aries or Mars to discover how you can enjoy an adventure that is personal to you. You need not be a test pilot or jump out of airplanes. Do it your way, but do it. Patty can help you discover this. What about your astrologer? My sister gave me a painting that says, “Most people don’t know that there are angels whose only job is to make sure you don’t get too comfortable & fall asleep & miss your life.” I thought she was saying I was missing my life, but she answered that she thinks I am the angel who won’t let people get too comfortable (sometimes to their annoyance). Credit to Brian Andreas at storybook.com. Three years ago I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane from 13,000 feet with a terrifying 8,000 free fall. Why? Moon in Aries, past life point in Taurus. Obviously as a soul I thought I was too careful in previous lives, and don't want to be in a rut. The Moon in Aries is an indicator of past life love of risk. Will I do it again? No! Thank goodness I sky-dived in tandem, or I would be dead. Am I glad I did? Yes, I certainly was not falling asleep and was fully participating in life. It put the little stuff in it’s place.
